Unidentified men decamp with 55,730 cash from coop society

Kurnool: Some unidentified persons entered Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society at Veldurthy on Saturday night and decamped with Rs 55,730 cash and some valuable documents. This incident came to light on Sunday morning. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of society lodged a complaint with Veldurthy police.

Speaking to media, Society CEO G Rama Krishnudu said as usual the employees of society have collected amount from remitters and secured in the society locker on Friday. Being second Saturday, the amount was not deposited in the bank, he added. 

Taking this as an advantage, some unidentified persons entered the society and decamped with Rs 55,730 by cutting the locker with gas cutter. In the incident some files pertaining to farmers were also burnt in the fire.

The CEO said he came to the society on Sunday to sort out some pending work and noticed that the locker was broke open. After noticing the scene of offence, the CEO said that he had immediately lodged a complaint with the Veldurthy police.

Dhone inspector K Raja Gopalam Naidu said the police are investigating the case.It is learnt that YSRCP Pathikonda constituency in-charge K Sridevi, wife of slain leader Cherukulapadu Narayana Reddy, was acting as president of the society.
