Akiveedu: Voters verified for their names in the voter lists at special counters opened at polling booths in Akividu on Sunday.

Tahsildar Narayana Reddy inspected the counters and monitored the missing persons. Votes of those who were staying away from the village for more than six months would be removed from the list.

However, the voters whose names missed in the list need not worry and they can apply afresh, he added.

In order to help Muslim voters, whose names were missed in the list, Jamat-e-Islami Hind and Ideal Youth Movement jointly organised a daylong voter ID checking camp at local mosque.

Abdul Razab, the town unit president of Jamat said that vote was the right guaranteed by Constitution and the future of the country depended on judicious use of the vote.

Ideal youth leader Mohd Ghouse Mohiddin said that there was widespread concern over the Muslim voters as names of voters were deleted without specifying proper reasons at many places.

They helped more than 800 Muslim voters to verify their names in voters list at the camp, he added.
