Vizag to extend help to cyclone-hit victims
Visakhapatnam: The district has been extending large scale help to Srikakulam district which is badly affected after being hit by severe cyclonic storm Titli last week. Men and material are being sent continuously to restore the normalcy at an earliest in the district.
Addressing media here on Monday, Collector Pravin Kumar said that officials and employees of various wings have been deputed to Srikakulam to assist the local administration.
Officers from agriculture, power, revenue, fire and safety, panchayat raj, civil supplies, irrigation roads and buildings departments have already joined in the restoration works in Srikakulam district.
Over 54 numbers of power saws, 75 water tanks, 38 lakh water sachets, 53 generators, 78 cranes and 20,000 asbestos rakes were sent to
Srikakulam. The collector also assured further help to the cyclone affected district.
The deputation of officials would continue till the normalcy restored in Srikakulam. The officials of various departments gained rich experience in restoration works after the Hudhud cyclone devastated Visakhapatnam in 2014. Their expertise would be used in helping the Srikakulam district, he said.
