Revive TAC to check traffic woes: Social activist
Kakinada: With sharp rise in vehicular traffic because of different reasons and incidence of accidents on the rise, the demand for revival of Traffic Advisory Committee picked up momentum.
The sharp rise in population in 156-year-old Kakinada town from 25,000 in the year 1864 to 4.5 lakh (with corporation status in the year 2005), as of now also lead to traffic woes.
It is said that continuation of Traffic Advisory Committee which reviews the traffic needs from time to time also said as another reason for irregular traffic movement in the city.
Besides this, the movement of cattle, pigs and stray dogs also said to be one of the reasons for traffic constraints in the town.
Social activist D Ramana Raju on Tuesday demanded that the government immediately revive Traffic Advisory Committee.
The committee will help in finding solutions to traffic woes, he felt.
