Kakinada: Prakash Ambedkar, the grandson of constitutional architect Dr B R Ambedkar, termed the Kapu-Dalit Ikya Vedika meet, organised at Ambedkar Bhavan, as a ‘historic’ event.

Addressing the joint meeting of Kapu-SC community sections here on Wednesday, Prakash Ambedkar called upon the two social sections to work together for their upliftment as they occupy majority of population in AP.

Elaborating on the issue, he said that their efforts to unite these two communities towards political power for the last few years yielding results now. He said that these two numerically strong social sections were denied political power in the last 70 years due to lack of unity among themselves.

The Dalit leader complimented Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham for his efforts in bringing the two sections under one platform. He advised Mudragada to propagate the need of unity among these communities across the 13 districts in the state. Earlier speaking on the occasion Mudragada expressed resentment over influence of money power in elections and politics.

Responding to the comment of former MP GV Harsha Kumar, who left the venue, claiming that he was insulted in the vendue, Mudragada made it clear that they have no intention to insult anybody. “Me and Harsha have been working together for some time now to bring unity among the two social sections,” he said. Addressing the meeting, Tirupati MP Dr Chinta Mohan stressed the need for unity among two social sections.
