YSRCP condemns DGP’s comments on YS Jagan
Nellore: Sarvepalli MLA and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) District President Kakani Govardhan Reddy condemned the contradictory statements made by the top cop after attack on the YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy. He addressed the media at party office here on Friday and demanded for impartial CBI probe into the incident as they were having no belief on the state police.
Govardhan Reddy said that the state government had failed to provide fool-proof protection to the Opposition leader. The DGP had to make any announcement only after conducting thorough enquiry on the incident. But, the MLA said that the DGP had made contradictory and baseless statements diluting the seriousness of attack on Jaganmohan Reddy.
The YSRCP leader said that the Chief Minister also has been making statements without verifying facts. He mentioned that the Chief Minister, who was hurt in Alipiri incident, had bandage for left hand when he received injury on the right hand, is now saying that the Opposition leader should have followed procedure.
He also criticised the ruling party leaders for making unnecessary comments on the wound and the need for treatment in Hyderabad. They were considering primary report of a medical officer, who treated at the airport. He said it was a knife used in cock fights which normally cleaned with mercury for sharpness. So, doctors anticipated any possible spread of poison into the body and hence advised treatment and rest, he said.
Govardhan Reddy demanded impartial probe by any central agency like CBI for unearthing any plot behind the incident rather baseless statements of the police officials, who neglected the safety. Local leaders were present.
