Carrying of inflammable objects in trains banned
Visakhapatnam: Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Waltair Division of East Coast Railway G Suneel Kumar on Monday advised passengers to be careful and not to carry and also not let their co-passengers carry inflammable objects while travelling in trains.
Railways have geared up its machinery to prevent carrying crackers in passengers and Mail and Express trains as Diwali is approaching. Carrying inflammable items in train journey is strictly prohibited, and special squads have been formed to keep a strict vigil on carrying inflammable items in trains, the senior DCM said.
If any passenger is seen carrying inflammable items, the co-passengers are requested to inform railway staff including TTEs, Coach Attendants, Guards of the Train, Station Managers, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel to save the train passengers from danger.
The passengers can also register complaint through security help line 182. Steps have been taken by the Safety Department of Waltair Division to make the train passengers and rail users aware of the dangers of carrying crackers and explosive substances, Suneel Kumar said.
Carrying of inflammable objects like crackers, gas cylinder, acid, petrol and kerosene during train journey is a punishable offence under the Railway Act 1989 and the offender may get an imprisonment up to three years, he warned.
