APSRTC pays 335 cr into EPF accounts

Amaravati: The APSRTC has paid Rs 335 crore into the provident fund accounts of the RTC employees, announced Transport Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu.

Addressing newsmen here on Wednesday, the Minister said that the RTC had utilised the EPF amount under various heads and the State government released the funds immediately to pay into the accounts of the RTC employees.

The Minister said that the World Bank, which was impressed with the track record of the State in minimising the accident fatalities in the State, had released Rs 135 crore to help its efforts in containing mishaps.

He said that the State stood in the sixth place in the country in minimising the fatalities in accidents. “Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu set the target of bringing down the rate of fatalities by 50 per cent,” he added.

He said that as part of the demo-corridor project, the rate of fatalities in Renigunta-Kadapa road has been reduced by 41 per cent. “Necessary vehicles and speed guns would be purchased with that amount to further bring down the fatalities,” he added.

Transport Commissioner Balasubrahmanyam said that speed challans would be imposed on speed limit violators. He said that speed guns would be used to confirm the speed the particular vehicle was moving. The speed challans would be sent to the address of the violators, he added.
