APY protects unorganised workers, says SBI DGM V Premji

Ongole: The Atal Pension Yojana, introduced by the Union government, is a social welfare programme that protects the workers in unorganised sector, announced the Deputy General Manager of State Bank of India, V Premji.

He participated as the chief guest and spoke in the awareness programme on Atal Pension Yojana, organized in Ongole on Tuesday.

Premji said that Atal Pension Yojana was one of the best programmes in the social welfare schemes by the Union government that introduced for the people in the unorganized sector in their old age. 

He said that the scheme would protect them after 60 years of age and helps them live independently by providing pension every month. 

He said that to create awareness among large sections of people, they were organizing special programmes and wished more women join the scheme. 

He said that the women from Self-Help Groups could join the Atal Pension Yojana to get more benefits.

The SBI Prakasam regional manager, V Krishnamohan said that there was a need for implementation of more schemes like Atal Pension Yojana in our country with 120 crores of people. 

He said that the attending women from SHGs should give wide publicity to the scheme and educate others about the protected future.
