CPM demands probe into corruption in VMC

Vijayawada: CPM state executive committee member Ch Babu Rao alleged that the VMC officials and people's representatives indulged in corruption of about Rs 1,000 crore in the past four and half years of TDP rule. 

Babu Rao along with CPM city secretary Donepudi Kasinath, floor leader Gade Aadilakshmi addressed a press meet here on Tuesday. They demanded the mayor to pass a resolution to inquire into the corruption in the last four-and- half years TDP rule. They also demanded that a detailed discussion should be held at the council meeting scheduled on November 3.

Babu Rao demanded an elaborate discussion on the corruption and constitute a three-member committee on the purchases made during Krishna Pushkaralu, corruption and misuse of funds by the VMC.

He alleged that the officials and people's representatives indulged in corruption of hundreds of crore of rupees by deputing 29,000 contract employees during Pushkaralu for catering, Pushkarnagar establishment and other works.
