Nellore: Now, it is official that the Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana will be contesting from Nellore Assembly constituency as the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly informed to the former Minister and senior TDP leader Adala Prabhakar Reddy at Amaravati on Wednesday.

Adala Prabhakar met the Chief Minister as part of discussions on forthcoming elections and the Chief Minister asked him to contest for Nellore Lok Sabha (LS) seat. It may be recalled that the former Minister has repeatedly been telling about his wish for contesting for the LS seat and now the Chief Minister considered the issue and asked to focus him on all assembly segments in the district.

Adala had reportedly informed the Chief Minister about fielding strong candidates in the district for facing YSRCP. The Chief Minister also asked to search for only winning horses giving no scope to others. The Minister is focussing on the city for the last four years showing special interest on various issues.

It is a fact that the Minister has been routinely visiting Housing for All project at Janardhan Reddy Colony, attention on Nellore Tank beautification, city parks, amenities at the civic schools, progress of Nellore and Sangam barrages and underground drainage and water works in the city. There was a criticism that he has been dominating city Mayor on many civic issues because of his portfolio.

“Now, the issue of other contenders for city constituency would come to fore whether they are ready to support the Minister or to take any other decision. In such conditions, the party has to consider their services in city or rural constituency preventing any possible dissidence,” said a party leader.

He commented that much before announcement of the Chief Minister local leaders were announcing their names as candidates which sends wrong signal to the party cadre. This has to be avoided giving ample scope for freedom of expression of the party leaders on the strong candidates whom to be fielded.
