Collector B Lakshmikantham inspects Durga ghat in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: In the wake of international boat racing which is scheduled to be held this month in Krishna river, Collector B Lakshmikantham said the river water and surrounding places should be kept clean. He held a field-level inspection at Durga Ghat along with VMC, water works and temple officials here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that better facilities would be provided to the devotees visiting Durga Temple. He said that more number of changing rooms would be provided to male and female devotees along with other facilities like lights and doors. The Collector further said that all the devotees and people should protect the sanctity of the Krishna river and keep it clean. 

He appealed to the devotees not to dump clothes and puja material into the river and not to take bath with soap and shampoo contaminating the river water. He ordered the officials to take strict action against violators of the rules. Temple EE BV Bhaskar, ADE Gopinath, VMC Medical officer Iqbal and others were present.
