Four-member Chaddi gang held

Visakhapatnam: The city police arrested a four-member notorious Chaddi gang and recovered jewellery worth Rs 8.71 lakh from their possession.

Addressing media  here on Wednesday, DCP (Crimes) AR Damodhar said the gang has involved in three property offences under South Sub-Division in Vizag Police Commissionerate.

The arrested were identified as Ram Badria,47, Kishan Badria,35, Ravoji Badria,25 and Ganava Bharat Singh, 45, all are native of Sahada village under Garbada mandal in Dahod district of Gujarat. The gang struck at various parts of the state, robbing homes and fleeing.

The members of gang struck wearing briefs, vests and smeared in oil to prevent  getting caught. In another case, the police arrested a woman and her mother for their involvement in three property offences (house burglary) under Kancharapalem police station limits and recovered 428 gms of jewellery worth Rs 9.12 lakh from them. 

Police said Y Ganga and her mother Y Manga (70) were arrested in the past for stealing the valuables from locked houses in Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, East Godavari and Vizag districts.
