Nara Lokesh all praise for committed cadres

Amaravati: Hailing the committed cadre of the TDP who have been with the party during the thick and thin, minister for panchayat raj and IT Nara Lokesh recalled that the party has been enjoying the confidence of the strong cadres since its founding by late chief minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.

Addressing party leaders and activists  after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu kick-started the membership drive of the party here on Wednesday, Lokesh said that the cadre had never turned their back and even braved the tough conditions whatever be the situation.

Lokesh said no party in the country whether it was national or regional could ever tell the exact number of their party cadre. But that was not the case with Telugu Desam, he said and added that 54 lakh people took membership during 2014-16 and 71 lakh during 2016-18.

He said that it was only the TDP which pays insurance to the party workers in case of distress. He reiterated that the party was committed to the welfare of its workers. Through the party workers welfare wing, 3,011 families were helped and Rs 60 crore was paid at the rate of Rs 2 lakh to the families of 3,000 party workers who lost their lives.

He said that the welfare wing spent Rs 23 crore for the welfare of the workers. Appreciating the efforts of the party cadre in case of calamities like Titli cyclone and floods in Uttarakhand, he appealed to the party workers to continue their spirit in serving the party.
