Anti-Corruption Bureau officials raid Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector, unearth huge assets

Visakhapatnam:The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials conducted raids on the residences of Assistant Motor Vehicles Inspector S Venkata Rao on Saturday unearthed huge assets which are disproportionate to his known income.  This is the second time that ACB sleuths conduct raids on Venkata Rao
During the raids on Saturday, the ACB personnel found several properties which are registered in the name of the accused officialand also in the name of his family members. 

In previous raids, the raids were conducted during his tenure in Srikakulam district in 2003 and a case was registered against him for having disproportionate of assets and it is still pending in the ACB Court in Visakhapatnam. According to an official release from Director General, ACB, RPThakur, the officials during the searches found house plots, multi-storied buildings, agriculture and dry lands in the name of the accused officer and his family members. The officials also found good amount of bank balances, gold, silver, cars, and five bank lockers. The bank lockers are yet to be opened.  
 
According to the assessment of the officials, the total value of the properties acquired approximately valued at Rs.55 crore as per the market value. Venkata Rao joined in the department in 1994 and worked in Sirkakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. During the searches, the ACB officials found the assets acquired by the accused official from January 1, 2004 to till today. The accused SVenkatara Rao is being arrested and produced before the ACB court, the ACB DG said.
