TDP alliance with Congress to end Modi rule: Uma Maheswara Rao
Vijayawada: Minister for Water Resources Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao said that the Telugu Desam entered into an electoral alliance with the Congress party to end the rule of Narendra Modi-led BJP government at the Centre. Speaking to the mediapersons here on Saturday, he asked the YSR Congress and Jana Sena to reveal their stand whether they support BJP-led NDA government or non-BJP front.
He said that as many as 15 parties have come to an understanding to fight unitedly against the undemocratic policies of the BJP following the efforts put in by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. But Opposition YSR Congress and Jana Sena parties were abusing the Chief Minister without proper cause, he said. Though the Centre did not give special status, Kadapa steel plant and railway zone to the State, YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan were not raising their voice at least once against the BJP-led NDA government, he regretted.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was working hard for the development of the State but the Opposition parties were accusing him personally, he pointed out. He also said that the Centre was intentionally conducting I-T raids against the leaders of Telugu Desam. But no Opposition leader reacted on this, he lamented. Uma alleged that the Opposition leaders entered into a secret pact with the Centre to pose hurdles to development process in the State. He asked the Opposition parties as to why they were not questioning the Centre though it had failed to release funds for Polavaram Project. He recalled that NTR also extended support to the then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao when he contested from Andhra Pradesh.
