Rift between MLA, MLC over Parvathipuram seat
Parvathipuram (Vizianagaram): With elections fast approaching, the leaders in Parvathipuram Assembly constituency are forming groups and confusing the local cadre.
With this, the mandal and village-level workers are in dilemma and not in a position to confirm themselves to whom they need to follow. Present Parvathipuram MLA B Chiranjeevulu was won with the support of former district president and MLC D Jagadeeswara Rao.
In the initial stage, Chiranjeevulu expressed loyalty towards his political guru Jagadish. But after few years Chiranjeevulu started strengthening himself and started encouraging his loyalists.
Even he kept Jagadish aside and maintaining his own cadre. This sudden change in MLA made the MLC Jagadish unhappy. Though the constituency is reserved for SC, other castes like Koppala Velama are playing major role here. Jagadish belongs to Koppala Velama and has strong support from the community.
He felt bad with the sudden change in Chiranjeevulu and started encouraging some other leaders like S Umamaheswara Rao, who is another leader of SC community.
Even Uma also started campaigning himself and organising programmes on his own. Now Uma is also confident enough that he would be the next MLA candidate for Parvathipuram as he has blessings of Jagadish.
Talking to The Hans India, Uma said “I am from dominant caste of this constituency and has support of MLC. So definitely I would be the candidate for next elections.”
Even Jagadish is also encouraging him and advising him to conduct various programmes on his own. Now the mandal level leaders are confused and whom to follow.
P Mohan Rao, a mandal president of Parvathipuram, said “We are here to work as per the directions, instructions of the party. We don't bother who ever be the candidate here.”
