Vizag to host body building tourney

Visakhapatnam: For the first time, the port city is going to host a national-level body building competition ‘Hills, Valleys and Mountains (HVM) National Championship’ along with Mr India-2018 and Miss India-2018 under the aegis of Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF) and Andhra Pradesh Body Building Federation (India-AP) on December 2 and 3 at Gurajada Kalakshetram.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao launched the championship logo, trophies and website here on Sunday in the city. Addressing the media, Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that it was the maiden national-level championship would be held in the city to encourage the tribal youth. Seventy among the 250 participants from various states in the body building competition are from tribal communities, he added.

The championship would be held in eight categories for men and women. The federation will felicitate the top five athletes with title trophies and prize money. Indian Body Building Federation (IBBF-Vizag) Chairman K M V S Nageswara Rao said the main aim of championship is to bring the tribal youth talent from the corners of agency into lime light. He appealed to tribal youth who are trained under body building can utilise this platform for better career in body building.
