Joint Collector Imtiaz takes charge as Mirchi Yard person in-charge
Guntur: Joint Collector A MD Imtiaz took over charge as person in-charge for Asia's biggest Guntur Mirchi Yard here on Tuesday. After taking charge, he went to various departments and inspected the market yard.
Speaking on this occasion, he said that Guntur Mirchi Yard has significance and chillis are being exported to other countries from the district.
He said that the chilli season will start from December and arrivals will increase from January.
After discussing with officials and other staff, he will take steps which are useful to the farmers to get a better price. He said that government has fixed target of collecting Rs.70 crore as market cess, out of which Rs. 35- crore is collected in the yard. There are 557 traders in the Guntur Mirchi Yard.
