Pet bottle crushing unit opened at railway station
Tirupati: A crushing bottle unit was inaugurated by Station Director K Satyanarayana on the premises of the railway station here on Monday. In view of heavy influx of passengers, large number of used water bottles were piling up in the station. Safai Karmacharis also collect many used bottles from coaches of various trains. The railway authorities have decided to install crushing machines at various locations in the railway station. The machine will crush the bottles into small pieces and railway authorities were planning to sell pieces to some companies who will recycle them.
The first machine was installed at East booking office on platform number 1 in the station and Station Director has said that they will install 12 more machines at various platforms and other places in the station. This becomes necessary as the City has been moving towards environmental-friendly. It was decided to take all possible steps by railways to help civic authorities in this regard. Station Manager M Subodh Mithra and other officials were present on the occasion.
