Gold ornaments worth 4.5 lakh recovered

Tirupati: The Central Crime Station (CCS) cops recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 4.5 lakh based on the information provided by old offenders, who were taken into custody from Tirupati sub-jail two days ago. On October 30, the CCS cops arrested a three-member women gang involved in robbing passengers in autos and RTC bus stands and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh from them.

They were identified as P Bhagyamma, N Shyamala and Ammayamma, who belong to Somala village in Chittoor district. According to cops, the accused have several links to stolen property cases under the limits of the Tirupati Urban Police District. Cops have grilled the old offenders regarding stolen gold ornaments from the passengers at Tirupati RTC bus stand, they have confessed of stealing gold in two cases which took place in 2017.

On the instructions of Tirupati Urban SP KKN Anburajan, the CCS cops have investigated the cases and recovered gold ornaments. So far, cops have recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 14.5 lakh from the accused. CCS DSP Ravi Shankar Reddy has stated that the accused were taken into custody from sub-jail through court orders and interrogated them. Stolen gold was recovered based on their confession before police, he stated.
