525 food varieties offered to Bhagwan Swaminarayan
Vijayawada: As many as 525 varieties of vegetarian food items (Maha Annakut) were prepared by the women members of BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir here and offered to Bhagwan Swaminarayan to mark Diwali festival and on the occasion of New Year.
Speaking to the media here on Thursday, Swaminarayan Mandir Trust Board member Jagath Bhai Seth said as a tradition, they offer a variety of food items to Bhagwan Swaminarayan as ‘naivedyam’ every year to celebrate New Year.
He said according to Swaminarayan preaching, one should live with righteousness and honesty besides peace to mankind. He said that to mark the 25th anniversary of the Swaminarayan Mandir, a two-day Maha Yagnam would be organised on January 6 and 7.
Another trust board member Naveen Bhai Patel said that there are about 1,100 Swaminarayan temples in 55 countries across the world.
Under BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir, there are 1,100 seers and they perform pujas for the universal peace and spread the preaching to the disciples. On January 6 and 7 as many as 125 devotees would perform Viswashanti Yagnam and also for the peace and fast development of Andhra Pradesh. Vachanamruth and Pravachan by senior seers would be performed on the occasion, he added.
