Noorbasha Muslims want political representation

Akiveedu:  The Noorbasha Muslims have demanded that the political parties should give them political representation and recognition to get votes in the next elections. Atmeeya Sadassu of the community people was held here on Thursday. Leaders from all districts attended for the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, State leader S Baji said that though their population was 10 per cent more than that of Muslims, they were not given any political representation by the parties. He asked the state government to sanction Rs 200 crore for the community which accounts for 25 lakh population.

The meet wanted the government to provide interest-free loans, employment opportunities to youth, encouragement for setting up of industries among other things for the overall development of the community. The meet demanded that the government provide a pension of Rs 3,000 to the community aged members who retired from their profession of cleaning cotton.
