Painting contest, art expo for children organised in vijayawada
Vijayawada: A painting competition and Children’s Art Exhibition was organised by Dream Young and Children’s Art Academy with the support of Creativity and Culture Commission, Andhra Pradesh at Gantasala Music College here on Friday.
The programme was inaugurated by Annapareddy Kotireddy, Lion district governor. A programme of felicitation to artists from across the State was also held.
Paintings of children from various places of the country were displayed besides display of drawings, paintings, eggshell art, pencil carving, chalk piece carving and many more at the expo.
Speaking on the occasion, Kotireddy said that teachers, who encourage children to take up sports and games, pursue art and crafts.
He stressed the need for teachers exclusively for art and paintings in school or institutions. He expressed happiness over many young children showing interest in painting and drawing.
Ramesh, founder of Dream Young Children’s Art Academy said marks were not the yardstick to judge the intelligence and knowledge of children. Art reveals their understanding of society and creates vast opportunities for them to explore, he said.
Awards were given away to the budding artists from schools and other educational institutions on the occasion.
Students from various schools including St John’s, NSM Public School, VP Siddhartha, Ravindra Bharathi, Vijayawada and Nellore, Mahita Public School and Vishwa Shanti Public School who took part in the competition.
