Stolen saris worth 6.1 lakh recovered
Tirupati: The Central Crime Station (CCS) cops arrested a three-member women gang on Wednesday and 71 saris worth Rs 6.1 lakh were recovered from them. CCS DSP R Ravisankar Reddy said on Thursday that the accused E Sunitha, M Janaki and M Rani of Tadepalle mandal in Guntur district were arrested by CCS CI Rasul Saheb and his team near a park at Bairagipatteda in the city.
Modus operandi of the accused was to enter a shop in a group and two of them will strike a conversation with salesman. Another accused will be stealing saris by hiding them under her saree. Several cases of stealing saris were registered against the gang. On the instructions of Urban SP KKN Anubrajan, the accused were arrested and sent them to judicial remand.
