Bheemili Utsav off to colourful start

Visakhapatnam: The 'Bheemili Utsav' started with a grand note here on Saturday. Over 25,000 people from various walks of life including students, artists, artisans, players from various disciplines, fishermen and women actively participated in the various events organised on the occasion. 

A great carnival was organised to mark the occasion on the Bheemili roads in which over 50 groups performed various skits including traditional, cultural and Western programmes. 

Thousands of students and people from various organisations also took an active part in the carnival.

HRD Minister and Bheemili sitting MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Visakhapatnam MP K Haribabu, Collector Pravin Kumar and several MLAs other VIPs were present at the inaugural session. 

While addressing the large gathering, Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the Bheemili Municipality was the second historical area in the country and there are several monuments located in the beach front. 

The State government has decided to develop the Bheemili as an international tourist attraction by conserving the historical monuments and by developing and fun and joyful attractions in the region, Ganta Srinivasa Rao said. 

In order to promote the Bheemili tourism, the State government would conduct the Utsav every year, the minister added.

The boat competitions on the blue waters enthralled the audience.  At the end of the programme, the colourful firecracker blasts attracted the audience.
