Rajamahendravaram: District Principal and Sessions Judge and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) chairman N Tukaramji has underlined the need to provide quality and speedy justice to the poor in society.

Judicial officers and members of the BAR should work together in this regard, he said. Inaugurating National Legal Services Day on the premises of district court here on Friday, he said for three decades Legal Services Authority (LSA) was extending services to the needy free of charge.

But the services were not reaching to all, he lamented. The judicial officers should treat it as a constitutional work but not as usual work.

The judgments given in LSA were having sanctity on par with judgments given in regular courts.

He appealed to litigant public to approach Legal Services Authority to save time and money.

DLSA secretary Justice VBS Srinivasa Rao said that various legal awareness programmes would be conducted as part of week-long celebrations.

Door-to-door legal awareness programmes also be conducted as part of this event.

Fifth additional judge Justice Syamala, ACB court judge Justice Gayatri, advocates JVV Ramana, MS Shiva, George Antony and others were present.
