Srikakulam: The demonetisation of high-value currency notes two years back was a big mistake of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, lamented former central minister and senior Congress leader Dr K Kruparani.

Participating in a protest staged in front of State Bank of India main branch at GT Road in Srikakulam on Friday to mark completion of two years of demonetisation along with Congress party leaders, she expressed her unhappiness over the cancellation of high-value currency notes which served nothing to the nation and put the commonman in severe trouble.

She said that the real estate and banking sector were suffered a huge damage and the government failed to curb block money. “No one is happy with the decision of the government and inflation also increased, and fuel prices are rising day-by-day,” she pointed out. She asked the people to compare the BJP rule with the previous Congress-led UPA rule in the country.

All the policies of the BJP government are pro-corporate and anti-poor, which are leading for harassment of common people, she criticised. District Congress president Dola Jagan Mohan Rao, Srikakulam segment in-charge Chowdari Sateesh and other leaders participated in the dharna.
