Market opened for sale of chemical-free veggies

 Tirupati: On the instructions of District Collector PS Pradyumna, officials of the Agriculture Department have started a weekly market for farmers to sell their vegetables raised through natural farming and millets at Rythu Bazaar here on Saturday. 

Local MLA M Suguna and Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman G Narasimha Yadav jointly inaugurated the weekly market here. 
Addressing the farmers, the TUDA chief said that the state government has formulated a policy to encourage the farmers to cultivate vegetables without using chemical fertilisers and pesticides. 

The MLA stated weekly market was started to sell fertiliser-free vegetables in Chittoor in the last week. 

The market started here is the second one in the district, she stated and added that officials of the Agriculture Department have made all arrangements for farmers to sell their naturally produced vegetables at Rythu Bazaar here. 

The old traditional millets are also being sold in Rythu Bazaar. After inaugurating the weekly market,’ the MLA purchased vegetables produced using natural farming from farmers. 

All the vegetables and millets were sold out within 2 hours after the inauguration of weekly market.
