Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan staff stage protest for pending salaries
Anantapur: More than 1,500 Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teaching and non-teaching employees including cooks and office staff and other medical staff sat before the office of the SSA Project Director (PO) here on Friday, demanding payment of salaries which were pending for the last four months. They raised slogans against the government and asked how their families would survive without payment of salaries.
Ameena and Srilakshmi working as sweeper and cook told The Hans India that they landed in debts due to non-payment of salaries. They also opposed the outsourcing system which is being introduced by the PO.
They warned against terminating the contract employees and recruiting workers afresh via outsourcing. Reserve police were posted at the SSA office until evening even as the agitators desperately waited for the PO to come and settle their pending salaries.
