Cyclone Gaja moves towards Tamil Nadu

Nellore : Southern part of Andhra Pradesh can heave sigh of relief initially as the cyclone Gaja is moving towards north coast of Tamil Nadu and possibly crosses between Pamban and Cuddalore on the forenoon of Nov 15, according to a latest bulletin of the IMD. 

The cyclonic system located about 720 km from Chennai and 800 km from Nagappattinam. 

It is very likely to move west-southwestwards and intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 24 hours and maintain the intensity during subsequent 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to weaken gradually and cross Tamil Nadu coast between Cuddalore and Pamban downgrading as a Cyclonic Storm during 15 November forenoon.

Rainfall activity is likely commence from 14 (Wednesday) evening and the south coastal region would get heavy fall at isolated places in both Coast and Rayalaseema. 

Squally winds at 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to commence along and off north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry – south coastal Andhra Pradesh from Wednesday morning. Sea condition will be very rough and fishermen are warned not to venture into sea till the system crosses mainland.
