1.92 lakh LEDs will be fixed in all panchayats
Nellore: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that the Panchayat Raj Department has been installing 1,92,184 LED bulbs in 938 gram panchayats across the district.
The Minister switched on the LED bulbs at Sarvepalli road in Venkatachalam mandal on Wednesday. Addressing a meeting, Somireddy mentioned that 28,216 LEDs are being fixed by the Panchayat Raj Department in 116 gram panchayats in Sarvepalli constituency.
He also said that officials have been arranging third electric line especially for the LED bulbs in the entire district. “Agency was entrusted with the task of maintenance of bulbs. There would be no additional burden on the gram Panchayats.
State government would complete fixing LED bulbs in all gram panchayats before December-end,” the Minister stated. DKT pattas belonging to 7,000 acres will be distributed to beneficiaries in Sarvepalli constituency, he added. Further, the Minister inaugurated a special medical camp at Community Health Centre in Venkatachalam organised for differently abled.
Somireddy said that they have been providing 1,500 as monthly pension to 34,724 physically challenged persons in the district. He stated the government has allocated Rs 13 crore to provide artificial limbs to the disabled in the district this year, he added.
Chandramohan also informed that the state government had allocated Rs 121 crore for the welfare of disabled during 2018-19. Authorities will provide tricycles and Braille slates after medical tests in the camp, he said.
Minister also inaugurated National Library Week at the District Central Library located in Rebalavari Street in the city. He assured of discussing with officials for allocating land to library at the TB Hospital in the city. District Central Library Chairman K Venkataswamy Naidu and others were present.
