Jawaharlal Nehru’s services to nation recalled

Tirupati: Children should spend more time with their parents and family members and parents should take care of them, suggested the Principal Magistrate of Juvenile Justice Board D Sowjanya. On the occasion of Children’s Day, she visited the Observation Home for Boys at Mangalam on Wednesday and paid tributes to first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary.

She interacted with the boys at the home and told them that she will talk to their parents soon by inviting them to the home. The inmates should learn the skills in tailoring, yoga, games, gardening and others so that when they leave the home they can live on their own and advised them not to commit mistakes in future. 

The Superintendent of the home PVS Ravikumar also spoke. At a programme held in Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), former MP Chinta Mohan recalled the services of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. He praised Nehru as the embodiment of truth and he brought in various reforms to fight with poverty, hunger, unemployment and many others.

He gave utmost priority to agriculture and introduced five-year plans in the country to take India into development path. It was he, who gave state capital to Kurnool when Andhra was divided from Madras state and granted SVU to Tirupati and wished that it should grow to the level of Cambridge and Oxford Universities. 

Several projects were also come up during his regime like Nagarjuna Sagar and Srisailam. AICC member Prameelamma, Prof Soundara Rajan, Dr P Nagaraju, P Prabhakar, Dr Pattabhi, Venkatesh and others participated.
