AP Govt kept its promise: Kodela Siva Prasada Rao
Guntur: Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said that the government has honoured its promise of releasing water for rabi through NS Right Canal Ayacut area of Palnadu region of Guntur district.
Addressing a press meet held in his office in Narasraopet on Wednesday, he said that despite water problem, the government was releasing water to keep its promise and added that irrigation department stopped water release due to breach of canal bund at Macherla. He said that they will release water from Friday.
He said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will set the foundation stone for Godavari-Penna rivers interlinking scheme at Harichandrapuram to supply irrigation and drinking water to Palnadu, Darsi, Markapurm and Adddanki on November 21.
The project will be taken up at a cost of Rs 6,000 crore, he said added if the project is completed, Godavari river water will be used for drinking and irrigation purpose in Palnadu and Prakasam districts. He suggested the farmers to cultivate alternative crops in stead of depending on Krishna water.
