Adopt healthy habits to curb cancer
Visakhapatnam: The Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital and Research Institute conducted a special programme ‘Brave hearts 2018’ at VUDA Children’s Theatre here on Wednesday on the occasion of Children’s Day celebrations.
VMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner P Basanth Kumar attended as chief guest of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, he said that cancer was just like any other disease and quick diagnosis could lead to full recovery.
He cited examples of actress Manisha Koirala and cricketer Yuvraj Singh and their courage in fighting this disease. He called upon the young children at the event as the real heroes and said it was important to lead a good and healthy lifestyle.
A special dance performance, magic shows and a movie was screened in the afternoon for the children and their parents. The environment turned into a festive mode as it was decorated with balloons, a painting kiosk for kids, a photo booth and cartoon characters entertaining the brave survivors.
Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital and Research Institute MD Murali Krishna Voona said the staff celebrates birthdays and all festivals with the young patients and thanked his staff and doctors for creating awareness on cancer.
