Awareness meet on low cost nutrition organised
Vijayawada: As part of International Child Right Week from November 14 to 20, the Women and Child Development in collaboration with Child Rights Advocacy foundation and World Vision India organised an awareness programme entitled 'Low Cost Nutritional valued Foods and Personal Safety' for all the Intermediate Students of Maris Stella College on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Santhi Sri, Department of Food and Nutrition, Acharya Nagarjuna University, explained about the Low Cost Nutritional Valued Food.
She said that the teenagers should take nutritious food like egg for vitamin H, milk for calcium, millets, dates, leafy vegetables for iron, non-vegetarian food for B12, Guava and Amla for vitamin C.
All should be exposed to sunlight early in the morning for vitamin D which is very essential for the body system.
Johnson, Child Rights Protection Officer explained about various child rights like Right to Survival, Right to Protection, Right to Development and Right to Participation.
He explained the students about their career development and also suggested them to stop child marriages by explaining child marriage prevention Act.
Tabita Vani, Technical Specialist for Child Rights from World Vision India explained the topic “Safe and Unsafe Touch”. She explained various laws and punishments given against sexual abuse.
Earlier, former principal Dr Sr Rekha welcomed the guests.
Raju from World Vision, Jessy Ratnakumari, Srinivasa Rao, Child Advocacy Rights Forum, Grace from Physics Department, V Swapna, Padmavathi, Kalima, Javali, Vasundhara and Koteswaramma and students were present.
