Power sector advisor Ranghanatham likely to get extension for one year
Vijayawada: The State government has decided to continue the services of K Ranganathan as advisor to AP power sector. According to official sources, the State government may issue orders in this regard in the next couple of days.
Ranghanatham served as engineer in various positions in power sector. In fact, he had completed his service in October this year. Now, the State government has taken decision to continue his services for one more year.
The services of Ranganatham are remarkable in the implementation of the revolutionary HVDS (High Voltage Distribution System) to agriculture pump sets for the first time in the country in the year 2002. The concept (HVDS) was also adopted by Karnataka state.
Appreciating his services in power sector, Principal Secretary for Energy department Ajay Jain said Ranganatham has been instrumental in rendering services as advisor for implementation of 24X7 Power for all schemes for which World Bank had sanctioned Rs 2,500 crore.
The Union government agency Appellate Tribunal for Electricity had appointed him as special officer for the three Discoms in 2006. He took active role in restoration of power supply during the HUD-HUD cyclone.
CMD AP Transco K Vijayanand said that considering the vast experience and valuable services of Ranganatham, the Energy department honoured him with Life Time Achievement award a few months ago.
