Sony Pictures to develop Media City in Amaravati
Amaravati: In a latest development, the internationally reputed Sony Pictures Entertainment group expressed willingness to aid in the development of the Media City in Amaravati and to help in the growth of film industry in Andhra Pradesh.
With this decision, the presence of the group in Amaravati has been confirmed, according to the State government officials. Laine Kline, Executive Vice President and Head of International Production of Sony Pictures, Vivek Krishnani, Managing Director of the company and other delegates met Minister for IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh at Secretariat on Thursday.
During the meeting, Laine Kline said that they have seen the development taking place in the greenfield capital city and appreciated the efforts being put by the State government in it.
He said that the vision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in developing the Amaravati as world class city was very good and expressed willingness to support in building Media City. The Media City is one among nine proposed cities in the capital city Amaravati.
The film industry giant also said that they would help the State government in annual meetings on film industry in Amaravati, provide assistance in constructing Centre of Excellence in film industry and other areas.
Meanwhile, Lokesh said that the state government aimed to provide most favourable environment for the film production and film industry in Amaravati. He informed that the State government already brought a policy to encourage film industry here. Stating that the government has been planning to organise a summit on film industry every year at Amaravati, he requested the Sony Pictures company to join in it.
He asked them to help in State government efforts in building a good platform to discuss on each and every latest development taking place in the cine industry, at Amarvati. The Minister said that if the film industry will be developed here in the State then the youth will get employment.
To make them as employable, the Minister asked Sony Pictures company delegates to provide skill development to the youth of Andhra Pradesh. Reacting to that, the delegates said that they would cooperate with the State government in this regard.
