Funds assured to tackle drought in Nellore district

Nellore: Chief Secretary Anil Chandra Punetha assured officials that he would release funds to the district for facing drought conditions. He visited the district on Friday and discussed with the officials on the scenario of drought and progress of various departments. 

District Collector Mutyala Raju informed that it was earlier 24 per cent of deficit rainfall and it is around 67 per cent and the state government declared 46 mandals as drought prone mandals. He also explained that they had sent proposals for providing drinking water for 369 habitations with Rs 9.54 crore. He said the state government had released Rs 2 crore under Non-CRF and requested for additional grant of Rs 7.5 crore.

Chief Secretary assured that he would release adequate funds from the State government for meeting the demands due to drought. SP Aishwarya Rastogi, TGP Special Collector Bhargavi, Joint Director of Agriculture Chandra Naik, DFO Venugopal, General Manager of District Industries Centre Srinivasa Rao, and others were present.
