44 cases booked on fish, chicken traders

Vijayawada: District legal metrology officials booked 44 cases on traders during the last one-week for committing various types of irregularities and offences. 

The officials collected Rs 3.43 lakh stamping fee and Rs 1.75 compounding fee from the traders of fish, chicken, oil and groceries. 

Krishna District Collector B Lakshmikantham convened a meeting with the officials of legal metrology, civil supplies, revenue, vigilance and enforcement and other departments at the camp office on Saturday and discussed about the cases. 

In a press release, Lakshmikantham said civil supplies department officials seized 267 quintals of PDS rice valued at Rs 26,750 from the traders for illegally supplying it. 

He said sand will be supplied free of cost to people from18 sand reaches in the district. He said sale of sand was an offence and illegal mining was prohibited.
