3-member panel formed to examine Special Investigation Team report
Amaravati: The State government on Tuesday constituted a committee with three senior IAS officers to examine the report submitted by the Special Investigation Team on Visakhapatnam land scam.
The committee is headed by the Special Chief Secretary to the State government, Revenue (Lands) Department Dr Manmohan Singh. The other members include Secretary from Law department and another Secretary (Political) from the General Administration department.
The committee was told to submit its recommendations within next 30 days. In fact, the State Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu earlier this month decided that the government must constitute the committee to suggest on how to take action against the accused persons in the land scam, identified by the SIT.
Interestingly, the SIT reportedly accused a former Minister, a retired IAS officer, Deputy Collectors and others as white collar criminals in this scam. The committee has also been entrusted with the responsibility of suggesting on how to recover the land from the holding of accused persons, who got the lands in an illegal means.
