Archer Tanishka creates national record

Bhimavaram: Young lass and child prodigy Bhupathiraju Tanishka excelled in archery as she created national record by winning gold medal at national-level archery completion held at Nagpur from November 10 to 12.

The competition, ‘Nagpur Mayor Cup’ was organised jointly by Maharashtra Archery Association and Nagpur Municipal Corporation, said SRKR Engineering College principal Dr G Parthasaradhi Varma on Monday. 

Tanishka’s coach Gopalakrishna Gandhi said that she won gold medal in Under 9 years category of Nagpur Mayor Cup. 

He said that she scored 718 points out of 720 points which was a record. In two various sets, she scored 358 out of 369 and in the other set, she scored 360 out of 360 pints creating a national record. 

He said that about 1,800 participants from across the country participated in the competition. 

SRKR Engineering College sponsored her to encourage and support the upcoming archery star. She is the daughter of B Pruthviraj and Deepika studying second class, he added.
