58 arrested during raids on hotels, clubs in Kakinada

 Kakinada: The Special Branch police of East Godavari district conducted raids on posh hotels and clubs here on Wednesday night. 

The SB officials assisted by policemen from One Town and Three Town police stations of Kakinada raided RL Grand, Vaibhav Hotels besides Town Hall and Cosmopolitan Clubs. 

They took 58 persons into custody for indulging in gambling activity and recovered Rs 61,020 in cash and club coins. The arrested were produced in court on Thursday.

According to sources, the raids on both Cosmopolitan and Town Hall clubs were first of its kind in the last two decades as these two were known as places of visits by VIPs and politicians.

On this occasion, SP Vishal Gunni warned of stringent action on any unlawful activities in the district.
