Peram Nagamani, a 57-year-old woman and a resident of Fortune Heights apartment, New RR Petroad, Ajit Singh Nagar, was found murdered on March 24 at her residence.

Her son Peram Kalyan Reddy lodged a complaint with the Ajit Singh Nagar police about the murder. After seven months of investigation, the police concluded that her neighbour murdered the old woman. The police took her into custody on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) B Rajakumari told the reporters on Thursday that the neighbor Asia Begum,45,  had murdered the old woman and robbed her jewellery. She said Asia Begum was living in the flat number 306 and Nagamani was living in flat number 305. Nagamani’s four children got married and has been living in other places.

The elderly woman had purchased a flat in Fortune Heights two years ago and had been living alone since then. She has close association with her neighbour Asia Begum. On March 23, Nagamani went to the flat of Asia Begum and asked some objectionable questions about her personal life. Enraged with it, Asia Begum had severely beaten Nagamani.

In the melee, Nagamani’s head was crashed to the wall and she died of injuries, said the DCP. The incident occurred on March 23. The accused had brought the body of woman to her flat and kept the body lying on the floor depicting that some unknown persons murdered her and robbed gold articles.

The police during investigation noticed that Asia Begum was the accused and she murdered Nagamani due to dispute particularly for questioning her personal matters.
