Linking of rivers turned to be boon for Seema: Chandrababu Naidu

Marala (Anantapur): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the TDP government should be credited for linkage of rivers Krishna and Godavari, which in turn facilitated bringing Krishna waters to Anantapur and Rayalaseema through the HNSS project. It is proving to be a lifeline for the district which was on the verge of desertification.

Addressing a public meeting at Marala village after participating in Jala Harati and Vanamahotsavam programmes at Marala reservoir here on Friday as part of his 2-day visit to the district beginning on Friday, Naidu said that the HNSS Project is a boon to the district and it was made possible by rivers linkage. It also helped us to bring water to Marala reservoir, he added.

A beaming Chief Minister said that the district which was once on the verge of turning into a desert is now exporting horticulture products worth Rs 14,000 crore to other States and even countries abroad. He promised to transform the district into an industrial hub and create jobs for the unemployed youth. 

Naidu said that the drip revolution resulted in recharging of groundwater. The bringing of Krishna water to Anantapur district even contributed to a boost in agriculture land values. The Chief Minister had a dig at the Centre for denying funds of Rs 3,200 crore to Polavaram Project which is a lifeline to entire AP State. 

He revealed that the State is getting Rs 16,000 crore in investments for new industries. Local MLA Palle Raghunath Reddy hailed the Chief Minister as a pragmatic leader with a vision to develop the State despite financial constraints.
