APSSDC partners with Switzerland in skill development

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) participated in the 8th Global Summit on Skill Development organised by CII at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. 

Switzerland is the country partner for this event while AP is the ‘Emerging State Partner.’ Representatives from the industry, the skill training agencies, the vocational education providers from various countries participated in this prestigious event.

As part of this summit, ‘The India Skills Report 2019’ (ISR 2019) was released. AP not only topped the list of the states with highest employability but also emerged as the most preferred state for work location and the most preferred hiring destination as per ISR 2019.

This report also featured a special article highlighting the various initiatives of APSSDC towards making AP, the skill capital of India as per the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The APSSDC team headed by K Sambasiva Rao, MD and CEO, held extensive discussions with the heads of reputed skill developing agencies/vocational training providers from Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, UAE and Japan in order to work out robust partnerships for setting up world-class skill development training centres in AP.

As part of this exercise, the MD and CEO held discussions with Mauro Dell’ Ambrogio, Secretary of State for Education, Research and innovation, Government of Switzerland, Dr Andreas Baum, Ambassador of Switzerland in India and Erik Swars, Head of International Relations, Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET). 

The Swiss delegation has been appraised of the priority accorded by the AP Government for developing world-class skilling ecosystem in AP in collaboration with international partners.

Both the teams have identified construction, healthcare, automotive, pharmaceutical, financial and logistics sectors as the possible areas where the Swiss agencies could partner with APSSDC in developing global standard skilling centres in AP in near future.
