Normal life returns as rain stops
Tirupati: With the respite in rains, normal life is returning in most mandals which witnessed incessant rains in the last two days in the eastern parts of Chittoor district.
In the pilgrim city, the rains ceased in the morning but only to resume in the evening and lasted for an hour. Over all, the people heaved a sigh of relief with the respite from rains on Friday though the sky remained overcast.
The average rainfall which was recorded 46.4 mm on Thursday came down to 18.3 on Friday (recorded at 8 am). Yerpedu mandal recorded highest rainfall with 80 mm followed by BN Kandriga 72 mm while the rainfall ranged from 30 mm to 60 mm in 10 other mandals in Tirupati and Chittoor divisions.
Due to the rains, thanks to the low pressure developed in the Bay of Bengal, the district average rainfall so far is 100 mm as against 162.6 mm normal rainfall in November, still 38.5 mm less than the normal rainfall for the month.
In October, the district received less rainfall with the actual average rainfall was 69.5 mm as against 165.5 mm. Following the rains, the agriculture operation picked up in the mandals in Tirupati division.
