Ampasayya Naveen bags Lok Nayak Award-2019

Visakhapatnam: Noted Telugu novelist and short story writer Ampasayya Naveen has been chosen for Lok Nayak Foundation Award-2019 for his contributions to Telugu literature. 

President of Lok Nayak Foundation Trust, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad on Saturday said that Ampasayya Naveen would be given away the award at a function in the city to be held on January 19. 

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1.25 lakh and a certificate, he added. For many Telugu people, literature may be a part of their life. But for Ampasayya Naveen, literature is his whole life, Yarlagadda added. 

The series of events of Naveen from his school days inspired him to write a novel Kala Rekhalu that brought him the Sahitya Academi Award. 

Born on December 24, 1941 in a middle-class agricultural family at Vavilala, a village in Warangal region, Ampasayya has taken to pen name ‘Naveen’ and started his literary journey 50 years ago. 

Naveen influenced the generations of Telugu readers over the last five decades with his 28 widely acclaimed novels and more than 70 short stories. 

Ampasayya Naveen will also a receive the Vegesna Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award on the same day, Yarlagadda said.
