Anantapur: Chief Minister and TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu has welcomed the statement of UPA Chairperson and AICC leader Sonia Gandhi that she would grant Special Category Status to AP if the Congress is voted to power along with other likeminded parties in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Addressing an extensive TDP party workers meeting here on the concluding day of his two-day visit to Anantapur district, Naidu said that he joined hands with the Congress in the national interest and in the interest of democracy and to send the dictatorial Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP & Co home.

Naidu justified barring the entry of CBI into the State saying that the premier investigating agency is in shambles and is being used by the BJP to harass political rivals. He alleged that the NDA government is working with vengeance against the State and the TDP. “After walking out of NDA, they started harassing us,” he maintained. He asked all party workers and leaders at the village and mandal-level to focus on development and welfare schemes initiated by the TDP government and propagate them.

He called upon all the leaders and workers to shed all personal differences and animosities and unite as one to fight the ballot war with vengeance and determination. All the district MLAs with the exception of Hindupur MLA  N Balakrishna attended the meeting. The Chief Minister later left by helicopter to Puttaparthi and from there by a special flight to Vijayawada.
