Red sanders worth Rs 5 crore seized, 3 smugglers held

Kadapa: In major breakthrough, Kadapa district police have conducted raids on the godowns  located at Katigenahalli area in Karnataka state and recovered three tonnes of red sander logs worth Rs 5crore on Friday. They arrested two international smugglers and one interstate smuggler in this connection. The accused are identified as Syed Mujeeb Bhai alias Moosa (51) of KatigenaHalli village Hospetmandal, Muhammad Gayaz Ahmed (36) Keel Kottal Lay out in Bangalore and G Leela Kumar (21), 
SurappagariPalle, Peelerumandal of Chittoor district.

Addressing the Press conference here on Saturday, Additional SP (operations) BLakshmi Narayana said that Rajampet police arrested interstate smuggler GLeelakurmar recently. During the interrogation he revealed the names of Mujeeb Bhai and Gayaz Ahmed who hid red sander logs which are being collected locally and smuggled to foreign countries. The ASP said that Rajampet police went to Bangalore and conducted raids at the godownat KatigenaHalli, recovered the red sander logs and arrested the accused. The ASP appreciated RajampetRural CI KNarasimha Rao and his men for arresting the accused.
